Yes, we are going to Alaska. We are wife
and husband, having lived our entire lives in Vermont. We have worked
hard all of our lives and often put other people and things ahead of
ourselves. We’d hoped that one day, if we lived long enough and health
was good, we would go to Alaska. Well, 2013 is the year.
Ira and I retired from years, and years
(yes, and maybe years) of public service. We were very dedicated to the
State of Vermont and the people living in it. We worked hard, often
very late, long hours extending into weekends and holidays. But, that
is who we are and we wouldn’t have done it any other way. However, we
retired at the end of December 2011 and things changed!
Giving ourselves a bit of time after retirement to contemplate our trip of a lifetime,
our plans floated around our conversations, we read books about Alaska,
we sent away for a few brochures. But, we didn’t make any REAL plans
until January 2013. Now, knowing how Ira and I think is important – we
hate to commit to anything. Especially if it means traveling
somewhere. We are true home bodies and just love being in our own
Vermont. We are real babies about making arrangements and being away
from home. I do truly mean this! Seems that four days it about the
time it takes for us to get completely bored and ready to be home again.
So, this blog is hopefully going to walk
you through OUR process for travel arrangement to Alaska (our way) and
insights into our reasoning and decisions for itinerary. Then you can
follow us around Alaska and we will comment on our earlier decisions and
if they were successful or not. We’ll give you tips and suggestions
for your trip to Alaska. We’ll even write reviews on where we
stayed, what we did, where we ate and other many topics. We hope this
blog will help you in your Alaska trip planning. Welcome!Cindy and Ira
